Six years previously, a NASA probe returning to earth with samples of an alien life form crashed over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear, and half of Mexico was quarantined as an ‘Infected Zone’. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”… The story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
Gareth Edwards wrote, directed, produced and created the CGI effects for this indie movie. Set in the near future, the wealthy US is protected from poor neighbour Mexico’s ‘alien zone’ by a great wall. Swiftian sci-fi with a low-key road romance, It’s been compared to Neil Blomkamp’s apartheid satire ‘District 9’. An exciting sci fi fable with a political message… “After six years they’re no longer aliens, they’re residents… Now, it’s our turn to adapt.”
