A warm, woolly, sentimental Christmas treat! Love it or hate it, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without it and Moving Image are going all out to make this event a great seasonal treat with mulled wine, mince pies and other delicious goodies for the whole family! (Bring your own hankies).
“This was one of those films that we saw on TV as kids (when TV was black and white anyway). I remember as a small child being both thrilled and troubled by the story when he goes back into a town that doesn’t know him, seeing what the world would be like if he hadn’t ever been born into it, which to a small child was quite chilling.
In film terms of course it’s part of the whole exercise, shooting scenes and then editing them back in a different order, actors making up to play in flashbacks and forwards, making a story up in retrospect. Like life really as Benjamin said, walking backwards into our future.
Yes ‘Its a Wonderful Life’ is sentimental but it’s also a nice study of despair and the dark moments when the temptation is to give in. In these darker days it’s good to take the opportunity to celebrate being here together.” John Wallett
Enjoy some reassuringly hot tea, delicious home-baked mince pies and mulled wine at 2:30 before the film begins at 3pm.
