Dir: Ken Loach, UK, 2013, 98 mins

Ken Loach’s new documentary on the defining moment when after Winston Churchill had led Britain through the Second World War the electorate, ready for a change of direction and sick of wartime austerity chose Clement Attlee to lead the Country and chose a Labour Government in the hope of a new future.

Like most defining moments in history the light of hindsight flickers depending on who is holding it but Loach certainly celebrates the real collective hope that lit up that moment in this fine and genuinely committed film from a master director.
